Member of the Month – March
When Richard and LeAnne killed it at their recent competition and walked away with a 4th place!
Richard Payne may be one of our newer Swink members, but he has sure made a name for himself in the time he’s been with us. He is a father to 3 kids, Austin, Dawson and Emmalee, and a husband to wife Amanda. Richard has been full steam ahead since the moment he walked through our doors. He is eager to learn and better himself, and he constantly gives 110%. And to add to it, he gets his butt up at at the crack of dawn to make it to the 5:30 am class to get his work in! There is never a complaint coming from this guy’s mouth. Only smiles, encouraging words and a kind attitude. But don’t let his gentle demeanor fool you…this guy is a BEAST!
Here he is with his 2 boys from one of the first days Richard visited us. A family that works out together is a happy one.
When did you join Swink? In September 2015
What made you first decide to come to Swink? My sister and her husband invited me to do a CrossFit workout with them at the box they went to in Keller. It was no joke, just like the workouts at Swink. I was looking for a local CrossFit box when I called and talked to Andre. He was very accommodating and invited me and my sons to join a few classes. Everyone was very nice to us and several introduced themselves which I feel is key to making someone looking for a place feel at home.
What’s your favorite thing about Swink? The coaches and the type of people they attract. Everybody is so encouraging which is what I need to get through some of those tough workouts. I also like how the coaches explain and demonstrate how to properly lift. It also has to be one of the cleanest workout facility I’ve been in.
What’s your favorite movement/workout? Pull ups
What’s your least favorite? Front squats
What’s your favorite clean eating meal? Grilled salmon and steamed veggies
What’s your favorite cheat meal? Enchiladas or any Tex-Mex food
What advice would you give to someone new to Swink? To focus more on proper form and learning the movements correctly because bad habits once learned are harder to break.
Look at that smile….and this is after a workout too!
