Member of the Month – April
This girl has no quit!
Here at Swink, we believe a positive attitude and committed work ethic is way more important than finishing first on a workout. This is exactly why Cassidy (Cass) Sutton is our April member of the month.
Cass has been with us for almost three years now. She comes to the gym nearly every day and is always the first to put herself outside her comfort zone to make sure the work gets done. She has improved ten-fold in this sport, and continues to grow both as a person and an athlete every time she walks through that door. Next time you’re working out next to her, watch that focus and determination in her eyes right before the clock counts down “3, 2, 1.” It will give you chills! She is encouraging and kind to every single Swinker, and her love for the gym and its members does not go unnoticed. We are proud of you, Cass! Here are some words straight from the MOM to give you a little more perspective into how great she is, as well as some fun questions so you can see how Cass does it every day!
“Hello!! I recently started an HR position with a large transportation company. I have two pitiful, rotten, spoiled, sweet dogs, two wonderful bonus children (Luke, 14 and Faith, 12) along with my husband Paul. My journey with Swink started almost three years ago in June when I came to a class with a friend. I instantly loved it. I had a goal in mind to go skydiving before I turned 30 in January 2015 and I had about 40lbs to lose. I couldn’t have been able to do it without Andre, Betsy, the other coaches and my Swink Family. Also, I found that when you find something that makes you feel good about yourself, it’s harder to fall back into the grips of drug addiction which I personally struggled with for many years. My greatest weapon now is my knowledge of how to take better care of myself, and in turn I can take better care of my family.”
What’s your favorite thing about Swink? I love the structure and that we are all there to be better for ourselves. I know that nobody is judging me because from personal experience, everybody receives encouragement regardless if you’re first or last to finish. I know that I can come here after work and leave to go home with a better attitude. “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy.” What’s your favorite movement/workout? Well it depends on the day. I like power cleans, shoulder to overhead and deadlifts. Chipper workouts are always good, too.
What’s your least favorite? This isn’t a secret but definitely thrusters and front rack lunges…(they both make me cry).
What’s your favorite clean meal/snack? I like raw and steamed veggies.
What’s your favorite cheat meal? Mexican food…mmm tortillas…..
What advice would you give to someone new to Swink? You have already bettered yourself by walking through those doors. One step at a time is all it takes. Stay positive and feed off the energy from your fellow Swinkers; everyone is on your side.
